The Mighty Tweed

Published Sat 09 Sep 2017

On a beautiful Saturday morning 11 eager divers met to go diving in the Tweed river. The first glance of the river revealed clear water and promised good visibility under water. Two buddy teams went for a drift dive from Little D'bah Beach upstream to Jack Evans Boat Harbour while the other groups decided to jump in at the harbour and explore the underwater scenery from there.

Diving in good visibility (10m) and water of 20°C was a pleasure and the sheer abundance of perfectly camouflaged sea hares was astonishing. Another highlight was definitely the encounter of a medium-sized green turtle hanging around behind some rock and grazing algae (though this was kept for the drifters). After 60 minutes dSMBs popping up at the surface were a clear sign that another amazing Tweed dive was coming to an end. The dive was followed by a well-deserved lunch at the Ivory Tavern.

Many thanks to Ray for organizing, Laura for marshalling, and all participants for joining and keeping their skills up.
