Gold Coast Seaway

What a glorious day we had chosen for a dive at the Gold Coast Seaway!

Every diver that morning had an issue that needed resolving. Could Jo get over her trauma of putting her back out at the very same dive spot many years ago. Could Gavin complete any dive without his perforated eardrum leaking like a sieve? Would Greta be happy with her new regulator set, as she was darn well unhappy with her new BCD. And Chris’s woes were  that his  O2 analyzer cell had failed that morning on his rebreather.

As it turns out Jo and Greta had a fabulous dive with no other divers in the water, unheard of I believe. Jo did not get cold. Some current, but shed-loads of sea life. Way too much to actually put a name to. However, to name a few, a very shy octopus living along the pipe, striped catfish, banded cleaner shrimp, a very large lion fish and a needlefish shoal. An emergency hook extraction was successfully implemented, from a tiny little fish who I am sure will be eternally grateful. Exit from the water by Jo and Greta was both elegant and stylish, with no clambering and rolling around like beached whales.

However, in hindsight other issues arose. Jo and Greta agreed than neither could see any macro life anymore, so the upcoming Sea Slug Survey was out of the question and that full lens transplant surgery was the only option. Gavin’s other ear was now giving him jip instead. Chris, well rebreather diving is always silent and seamless, no issues at all.

A lovely way to start any day.Thank you Jo for organising it.
