COVID socially distanced social in the Botanic Gardens

Published Sun 07 Jun 2020

With the loosening of Queensland's COVID-19 lockdown, and craving a change from Zoom, we decided to make the most of Brisbane's botanic gardens for our first face-to-1.5m-distant-face social get together.

Tom was there to keep us all within the rules with his big measuring stick and plenty of hand sanitiser. To minimise contact everyone brought their own drinks and snacks, leading to varying degrees of envy at some of the tasty pastries being waved around.

There was also a round of applause for Gary and Jane who had passed their theory exams before the social (Dive Leader and Sports Diver respectively).

It was a great afternoon of catching up and dicussing plans for a restart to club diving. It will be great to get back in the water but I'm bracing myself for the winter water temperatures, having last dived in balmy waters on Australia Day!
