Join us

Join in three steps

Anyone who is fit, keen to dive and interested in being an active club member is welcome to join our Club as a diving member!  We welcome qualified divers from other training agencies.

Please note that new members must join two organisations - the international BSAC club and training agency (based in the UK) and our Brisbane branch (in Brisbane).

1.  Come and meet us!

Diving with a club is very different to diving with a shop.  We strongly suggest that if you're interested in joining us, come along and meet us first and make sure that we're your cup of tea! We can tell you about BSAC and the sort of diving and training we do. You can tell us about what you want from your membership and how you want to contribute as an active club member. Start by contacting us or reaching out on our FaceBook group.

2.  Join (or re-join) BSAC in the UKBSAC - Dive with us

The British Sub-Aqua Club (BSAC) is the international diving organisation. Go to the BSAC website, click 'Join'  (red button near the top right of the homepage), then click on the "Join Now" link under "Join directly"  and complete the online form. BSAC will ask you to complete a medical declaration and pay online.  If you are a current BSAC member you may skip this step. If you need help, contact us.

3.  Join the Brisbane branchLogo

After you have met us and joined BSAC, we can enrol you at one of our branch social meetings or over the phone. You will receive an invoice by e-mail. Pay this invoice by bank transfer.

We will need to receive some documentation from you:

  1. We need to view your current main diving certification and nitrox certification if applicable.
  2. Your BSAC member number.
  3. If you have ticked "Yes" to any medical question when joining BSAC, we need a copy of the public (non-confidential) portion of your current medical clearance stating that you are fit to dive. This needs to be by an accredited dive-doctor using the Australian dive-medical form.
  4. Sign the Membership Agreement.
  5. Sign the Code of Conduct.
  6. Parental consent signatures on the items above for members under 18.

Health considerations

Some medical conditions require a qualified diving doctor to sign you off as fit to dive. They may, in some cases, impose conditions on your diving. These conditions need to be declared as part of the BSAC application process.  Contact us to find out more about how to proceed if you have such conditions.

Help is available!

We're happy to help and even to take you through the whole process in person. E-mail the Membership Officer and we'll organise to meet you at a branch social or meeting night. The Membership Officer will assist with forms, answer your questions and introduce you to your future dive buddies.  If you can't meet in person then you will need to scan and return your forms by e-mail.

Junior Members

We welcome junior members to the club but require at least one parent or authorised guardian to also be a member and accompany their child or children on each trip. Applications from junior members need to be authorised by a parent or guardian.
