Grey Nurse Shark drift dive at Nine Mile Reef

Event information

Registration for this event closes at Sun 07 Jul 2024 23:59.

Organiser: Gavin Wills.

Diver grades: This is a more advanced dive. Minimal qualification for Nine Mile Reef is Advanced Ocean Diver or Sports Diver with appropriate depth progression to at least 30m AND you should be recent and proficient with your diving skills. It is a drift dive and divers should be comfortable with their buoyancy and have weighting sorted out for a safe group descent in current. Cook Island, the second dive, is suitable for all divers.

Equipment: Divers must bring full diving kit. Air cylinders and weights are included in the price. Nitrox fills are available and other gear can also be hired from Tweed Seasports. Divers must carry knife/line cutter, whistle, DSMB and reel and snorkel.

Operator: Tweed Seasports. Website: http://tweedseasports.com. Their boat is a RHIB.

Costs: The cost for two dives, including air cylinders and weights is TO BE CONFIRMED. It should be approximately $180. Other kit hire and Nitrox is extra. If you pull out of the trip after the booking is made it is up to you to find a suitable replacement. Please also ensure you share the fuel bill with those you share a ride with. The operator will provide nitrox for an extra $20 (you can pay this on the day, but you must tell me so they can prepare!)

Travel: We will meet at Tweed Sea Sports at 7am. Drive time will be approximately 1.5 hours from Brisbane (but can be longer with roadwork and traffic).

Diving: I have currently reserved the whole boat for our exclusive use. This gives us 12 spots.

Waitlist: If the trip is fully booked on the website and you want to be put on a waitlist (in-case of drop outs or more spaces being added) please send me an email.
